Graphium macleayanum
For an hour, 1,400 metres up Mount Baw Baw, we watched this Macleay's Swallowtail flying around, chasing off other butterflies, especially other male Macleay's Swallowtails.
I was hoping he would land so I could photograph him at rest but if he did, I didn't see it, and eventually we moved on with just a few shots of him in flight.
It amazes me that something so small can seemingly expend so much energy without a rest and without feeding.
